BONJOUR! ON Y VA!
We are booked for PARIS, FRANCE for a 6 day honeymoon trip to the most romantic city in the world!
We are staying at the Hotel Seven by Elegancia, which is an unusual contemporary concept boutique hotel in the Fifth Arrondissement, in Paris’s Latin Quarter. It was rated as one of the Top 25 hotels in France. “With 28 individually designed rooms and seven themed designer suites, levitating beds, starlit skies and a cool sense of lightness and love, Hotel Le Seven is redefining hospitality one stay at a time.” The hotel’s decor is very cool, modern, and funky.
The (tiny) room we currently have booked, “Absolute Levitation, ” has a levitating bed with fiber-optic lighting, and a transparent shower (not for the modest!). The ceiling is printed with realistic clouds, with fiber-optic twinkling stars, and the flat-screen TV features four channels that diffuse a calming scent of your choice at the touch of a button (for reals!). Very Jetsons-like!If we are lucky, we may get upgraded to a room with a levitating bathtub also, or if we’re really really lucky, the 007 Suite (James Bond), which has golden toilets and its own Spy Lounge area. This is only one of the seven over-the-top themed suites the hotel offers (others include Marie Antoinette, Black Diamond, Alice, Sublime, Lovez-Vous, and On/Off).Yes, it’s sort of insane! This hotel was actually the selling point for Kenton to agree on Paris! He likes the futuristic vibe. It’s definitely going to be an experience!
The hotel is two blocks from the lively Rue Mouffetard, a street that’s all about food and is home to one of Paris’s hottest street markets. It’s also very close to the Luxembourg Gardens. The Pantheon is a 10-minute walk, where we can learn about some of the most important figures in French history, and the Boulevard St.-Michel is a 15-minute walk. Within an easy stroll, we can also visit Notre-Dame Cathedral, Sorbonne University (where Agatha’s mother studied abroad), the Jardin des Plantes, and the Galerie de l’Evolution. We’ll probably also pop into La Fontaine aux Vins for high-quality wine at great prices. A bottle of Bordeaux will cost you less than a glass at the average bar. Another activity that Kenton would probably enjoy is visiting the Musée du Moyen Age, home to an extensive collection of medieval art and artifacts.
A quick metro ride will take us to see lots of the must-see destinations in Paris, such as The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées, Centre Georges Pompidou and the “Beaubourg” Neighborhood, Sacre Coeur and Montmartre, Seine River, etc, etc, etc. It will also be Agatha’s birthday (10/16) while we’re in Paris, and she’d LOVE to go to the Moulin Rouge, the famous and historic Parisian cabaret, located in Pigalle, Paris’s red light district.
We will be creating our itinerary soon, and will provide updates. Please feel free to leave comments below on this page with suggestions of what to see and do and EAT.
